SYMBOL MEANING

The Chidhakaashyog meditation symbol has tremendous meaning. This archetype symbol is found in many ancient as well as current cultures around the world. Being an inherent part of mankind's inner consciousness (subconsciousness), it is highly symbolic and powerful, particularly when used for meditation. Initially when you look at the full picture you see six triangles along with a center red dot. The symbol as a whole represents MAN with a head, two arms, two legs and tailbone.

In the six triangles you can also see two major intersecting triangles representing the male and female aspects of energy. The triangle pointing upward is the male energy (logical, analytical), while the one pointing downward represents the female energy (creativity, intuitive).

The triangles are violet in colour representing the 7th Chakra or energy centre at the top of the head called Sahasrara (Crown Chakra). The red dot in the centre (called the Bindu) is the focus point for concentration. It represents the first energy centre or Chakra called Mooladhara (Base Chakra). It is the result of the union of the male and female energies, which is Creation itself!

The six smaller triangles surrounding the center dot, represent both the positive and negative qualities found in creation. The 'six inner enemies' of lust, anger, greed, attachment, pride and jealousy are the outcome of base desires, animal qualities and wrong thinking which bind the natural expression of love from our hearts. The triangles also represent the 'six human qualities' of Truth, Righteousness, Peace, Love, Non-violence and Faith, which when practiced destroy the inner demonic and animalistic tendencies in man.

The journey of man in life is to steadily remove the vices of the six inner enemies allowing the cultivation of the six human qualities, thus making one's life meaningful and beneficial towards one's self and others. The success of this solitary internal adventure is nothing less than self-realization itself! .

Steady concentration with devotion on this symbol are essential ingredients in the Chidhakaashyog practice.
