Chidhakaashyog to Become a Seer”,

Bhavan’s Journal, Vol.51 No.20, date: 31 May 2005

The whole Universe is a wonder.  All that we see is a wonder.  All that we do not see but feel, hear, and experience is a wonder too.  There is no permanence in any of these, just as there is no permanence either in the wave or bubble of the ocean.  Man who is an integral part of Nature is like a ripple in the Divine Ocean.  It is a vedic saying –“Jantunaam Nara Janma Durlabham”.  Among the 84 lakhs of species, to be born as a human being is the rarest opportunity bestowed on us.  Even among human beings, it is he who seeks Brahman attains Brahman.  Among the creation, it is man alone, who with effort can have a clear understanding of the Universal Absolute, its grandeur, its beneficence, its magnificence and urge him to move towards it and merge with it.  The Universal Absolute, of which man is a unit, is Pure, True, Unlimited, Permanent, Everlasting and is attainable by contemplating on it more and more every day.

Chidhakaashyog, says Shri.Surya Jowel, the Founder of Suryayog Foundation, makes the spiritual aspirant, the Seeker of Brahman, to transcend the body, mind and intellect to attain Self-realization and ultimately merge with the Unmanifest, the Universal Absolute, the Brahman.

The Taitreya Upanishad says-“Aakaasha Shareeram Brahma”- The body of Brahman is Aakaash.  It is primordial absolute, eternally existent; creation and destruction are not applicable to it.  The static aakaash with no activity whatsoever is the “Chidhakaash”, the highest state of Satwik condition.  The static aakaash “Chidhakaash” is the purest state of Consciousness.  The aakaash in motion is like flowing water which creates force and energy.  When aakaash circulates at a high speed, it creates fundamental particles of stable matter like the bubbles and foam from water.  The spinning action of aakaash creates the electrical force of attraction and repulsion between particles of matter.  Prana, is aakaash in motion.  The varying speed of Prana causes different levels of consciousness in the living beings.  During the waking state when the physical interactions are dominant, a living being is in the lowest level of consciousness with the spinning motion of  aakaash signifying rajasik and tamasik state of mind.

Physical pleasure is derived through the senses which are made of fundamental particles of impermanent nature.  Therefore the sensation and the pleasure are not real.  They are impermanent.  With the restraint on the senses and concentration on the substratum, the Chidhakaash, a Yogi stills his mind.  He allows the thoughts to pass by and concentrating only on one point passes over from rajasik to a satwik state of Samadhi.  The human body is a conglomeration of impermanent inert matter with a low level of consciousness superimposed on the real medium of Chidhakaash.  One would be able to reach the satwik state of consciousness, the Chidhakaash, and ultimately merge with it, if one does not allow himself to get over activated with consumption of  inappropriate food, unwanted thoughts and lack of sense control.

Shri Surya Jowel says, by doing Chidhakaashyog, the movement of Prana is regulated, the senses controlled and the mind is stilled- thus taking the practitioner to the highest state of pure consciousness where physical, mental, emotional and spiritual dimensions integrate -  experiencing oneness with the Absolute.

The Chidhakaash is a self-effulgent entity.  The Supreme Chidhakaash because of its nature of Pure consciousness and Bliss shines by itself.  Due to movement of aakaash, when matter is created, the brightness dims around the matter due to gravitational energy.  When gravity is reduced and the matter becomes lighter, it attains the nature of Chidhakaash and starts shining ie. light is produced around it.  The fundamental particle (electron) and its opposite (positron) are physically attracted having the least degree of consciousness.  This is the primary principle involved in the attraction between male and female principles.  When this attraction is restrained through control of the senses, energy converts itself into Divine Love.  By sitting still and controlling the senses, by constant effort, even the mind can be stilled.  Thoughts are nothing but waves created in the brain just like ripples created in a pool of water when disturbed.

In Chidhakaashyog, the practitioner sits still with focused attention on a Bindu,  a red dot, in the centre of a Star Symbol, consisting of six triangles.

The triangles and the inverted triangles represent the male and female energies respectively.  By stilling the body and the mind, the female energy, Kundalini Shakthi, rises from the Mooladhar Chakra , at the base of the spine.  When concentration is focused on the form of a macro cosmic reality, some of the surplus electrons in them are converted into bio-plasmic body energy.  This energy plunges into the Manipur Chakra and creates an electric field connecting the physical and subtle consciousness.  This increases the energy in the body and produces a magnetic field around us and as said earlier, gravitation of the body reduces and produces light around the body called “Aura”.   As the Kundalini energy rises  further up and reaches the Agna Chakra located in between the eyebrows,  intuitive power of the practitioner increases and he begins to see visions.  When the Shakthi reaches the top of the head, the Sahasrara Chakra, the Vivek in him enables him to discover the Creator.  The Divine romance takes place. The Shakthi merges with Shiva.  The practitioner begins to see oneness in everything, the seen and unseen.  He becomes the Seer.  He realizes the Vedic Dictum, “Aham Brahmasmi”, that is ‘I am Brahman’- I am the same as Brahman, as consciousness and intelligence are derived from Chidhakaash, the pure Consciousness of Brahman.  He understands that each individual is a Divine entity formed out of Brahman with degrees of consciousness varying from person to person.

Chidhakaashyog involves controlling the movement of aakaash in body and mind to realize the Truth; to experience and actualize the inner aakaash.  Shri Surya Jowel says, It is an ancient meditation technique from the higher Masters. Chidhakaash is Nirakara, Nirguna and Turiyatheeth.

He says doing Chidhakaashyog not only helps us to realize the Truth, but also helps to detach from the world, while living in the world (like the lotus flower) less affected by emotions. It helps us evolve and control our rebirth.  It helps to fuse the bio-electric and magnetic elements in us as explained earlier. It makes the practitioner understand the concept of body, mind and soul.  Increases Intuition and helps us to enter the land of Wisdom through our 3rd eye, by activating the pineal and pituitary glands.  It takes us to the Sthithpragna State, a state of balanced, unaffected mind leading to Moksha.  While doing Chidhakaashyog, looking at the symbol, the mind, heart and Soul will re-arrange ready to receive the Divine Grace of God-the Unmanifest.  Normally, it takes many life times to reach this higher state of mind.  He says, Chidhakaash is the basic energy, the power behind the Gayathri Mantra, Sri Chakra, Sri Vidya, 3 Gunas, Saptha Rishis, all Prophets, Saints and Philosophers.  It is equivalent to all prayers, rituals, pujas.  It moves us towards the Unmanifest, the Formless and Un limited, from Asath to Sath, from Tamas to Jyothi, from Moha to Prem, from Mortality to Immortality, from waking –lowest consciousness to the highest consciousness-Alpha State.
